Chapter 252 To Hold the Apprenticeship Ceremony
With the experiment on pause, Allison decided to hit up Ralph's Apprenticeship Ceremony and gave Alexander a call.
When she wrapped up her work and stepped out of the lab, she was surprised to see Alexander's car already parked at the entrance.
A grin spread across Allison's face as she dashed towards the car. Alexander hopped out as soon as he spotted her.
"Why are you dressed so lightly?" he asked, pulling her into a warm hug.
"I forgot my down jacket. It's freezing!" Allison replied, too caught up in her work to notice the cold.
Alexander, looking a bit annoyed, helped her into the car. "Let's head home and get some rest. We'll grab dinner at Kismet's tonight."
Allison nodded, feeling sleepy as she settled into the car. Alexander held her close. Once they got home, she crashed after a quick shower, and Alexander even dried her hair for her.
In the study at Serenity Manor, James was busy working. When Alexander returned, he quickly reported, "Wallace sent the stolen data to an email address. The IP is from abroad, but Sabrina found that the location is masked. She can't pinpoint the exact address yet, but she suspects it's not far from us."
Alexander nodded. "Check if any domestic companies are working on similar projects." James handed Alexander a folder. "Here's the latest progress from the pharmaceutical plant. As per your instructions, we've upgraded security to the highest level."
Alexander was pleased. The pharmaceutical plant was a gift for Allison, who loved medical research. He wanted her to have a place to pursue her passion.
James was used to Alexander's doting behavior towards Allison. Alexander had even moved his office to Serenity Manor to be closer to her. James couldn't imagine how things would be if they got married.
Allison slept deeply, exhausted from work. Alexander didn't wake her and went to dinner at Kismet's alone.
"Allison's still asleep?" Kismet asked.
Alexander nodded. "She's been in the lab for days. She must be exhausted."
Kismet said sympathetically, "I'll save some food for her. You can take it back when she wakes up."
Elsa, gnawing on a bone nearby, frowned. "Alexander, I heard Allison is a postdoc. You're quite a bit older than her, and your reputation might not match hers. Aren't you worried about your status?"
Kismet shot Elsa a look. "You weren't a genius when you married George! Without him managing your finances, you'd have squandered everything. Eat or go home!"
Elsa huffed but didn't dare argue, quietly returning to her meal. Alexander chuckled at the scene.
"The Apprenticeship Ceremony is in two days. There's still a lot to prepare. Jessa has to go abroad, and Landon is clueless. Alexander, I need your help," Elsa said. Alexander nodded. "I've already got people handling the preparations. Since Kismet and Elsa aren't in the best health, I've arranged RVs instead of flights. "Elsa's eyes lit up at the mention of RVs. "Alexander, you know me so well. I've always wanted to travel in an RV, but no one at home would go with me. It's so lonely."
Alexander smiled. He had grown up with Elsa and knew her well. "Allison and I will take two RVs. If you need anything, just let James know."
Elsa was thrilled and started making calls. Kismet looked resigned. "Elsa will never change, no matter how old she gets."
Alexander poured Kismet a cup of tea and ate slowly. "When my mom was alive, my dad doted on her. People said the Carter family only married noblewomen, but my mom was from the countryside and not highly educated. When the Carter family faced hard times, my dad was sent to the northwest, and my mom held the family together, even doing street cleaning."
Kismet nodded, remembering those days. "I met Tracy a few times. She knew Valencia. One particularly cold year, she brought Valencia some homemade bread to thank her for helping buy medicine for her daughter. Tracy was a woman of gratitude and loyalty."
"If my mom knew I married Valencia's granddaughter, she would be happy," Alexander said, smiling at the thought.
Just then, Allison came running over, still groggy from sleep, and flopped onto
Alexander's back. "Kismet, I'm hungry!"
Kismet rolled her eyes. "You're hopeless."
Despite her words, Kismet went to the kitchen to prepare some dishes for Allison, who devoured them eagerly, praising the food.
"Kismet's cooking is the best. I've been eating takeout for days, and I'm sick of it," Allison said between bites.
Alexander served her more food and soup. "Take it slow. No one's going to take it from
you."

Allison nodded but didn't slow down. When she finished, the table was cleared of food, and Alexander was shocked. "Be careful. Eating like this will upset your stomach."
Kismet, however, wasn't as gentle. She gave Allison a light smack on the shoulder. "Go walk around the yard five times. You used to get indigestion as a child and cry all day. You're an adult now; you should know better."
Allison pouted but went outside to walk. "Sorry for the trouble. I'll take care of Allison from now on," Alexander assured Kismet.
Kismet, satisfied, went to rest. Allison, meanwhile, checked the security cameras around the yard. Alexander joined her. "Found anything interesting?"
Allison turned to him with a mysterious smile. "Guess what I found?"
Alexander raised an eyebrow, sensing that whatever it was, it involved him. "Alright, what did you find?"
Allison giggled. "I caught you sneaking to the garden last night. What were you up to?"
Alexander chuckled, shaking his head. "I was just checking the new security system. Didn't want to wake you."
Allison smirked. "Sure. Just admit you missed me and wanted to be close."
Alexander laughed, pulling her into a hug. "Guilty as charged. Now, let's finish up here
and get some rest. We've got a big day ahead."noveldrama
Allison nodded, feeling content in his arms. "Sounds like a plan."
